FORMER EAGLES CAPTAIN DENIES KANO PILLARS SIGNING – SPORT

Yobo was said to have joined Pillars with his debut to come reportedly in their next home game against Sunshine Stars of Akure.

In accordance of with an ambassadorial deal with the League Management Company (LMC), Yobo is to join a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club.

The 35-year-old has however denied signing for Pillars or any NPFL club yet.

I read that I was missing in action last weekend. I have not signed for Kano pillars or any NPFL club. Yet,” Yobo wrote on his official Twitter page.

Pulse Sports initially reported the story that Yobo would be signing for Pillars after LMC Chairperson Shehu Dikko revealed it on Tuesday, August 23.

Yobo will play for Kano Pillars; he will be on the pitch as soon as possible,” Dikko told Pulse Sports at the unveiling of the LMC partnership deal with Star Lager Beer, as the official beer of the NPFL which held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Kano Pillars forward Mohammed Gambo, a media official of the NPFL side, Idris Malikawa and secretary of the club Usman Sirajo all also supported Dikko’s claim with some comments.

The LMC on Tuesday, June 21 announced that Yobo has signed a deal which will make him eligible to play for any interested club in the last 12 games of the season.

Four clubs-Akwa Utd, FC Ifeanyiubah, Kano Pillars and Wikki Tourists entered the race to sign the former Everton defender.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah were favourite to sign Yobo due to his friendship with the proprietor, Ifeanyi Ubah.

Yobo and the billionaire business man, Ifeanyi Ubah have seemed to have struck up a friendship.

Ifeanyi Ubah was heavily involved in the planning of the testimonial of Yobo at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in May.

Yobo has the record of the most caps for the Super Eagles and played at Marseille, Standard Liege, Everton, Fenerbache andNorwich City during his career.
