The first civilian governor of Osun State and serving senator, Isiaka Adeleke, who died in the early hours of Sunday, April 23, 2017, at a private hospital in Osogbo after succumbing to a protracted ailment has been buried amidst wailing. Adeleke a two-term senator, won the Osun West senatorial seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in 2007.
He, however, defected from the PDP in the build up to the 2015 general elections and had won again on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC).
Controversy trailed Senator Adeleke’s death yesterday, which led to his burial according to Islamic rites being postponed.
Governors of Ogun and Ondo States, Ibikunle Amosun and Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) were among the dignitaries present at the burial.
Meanwhile, there was a very tensed moment as the burial rites commenced as angry sympathisers descended on another indigene of Ede, Hon Idiat Babalola.
Babalola a member of the All progressives Congress APC, and one of the commissioner nominees of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, arrived the residence of the late politician at about half past ten to pay her last respect to her kinsman but was almost beaten to death by irate youths, who accused her of betrayal.
